The Lake Marion Desilting Basin was excavated in 1995. The Lake Marion Lake Association and the Buffalo Creek Watershed District partnered with the land owner, Kermit Hanke.
The Basin was full of sediment, so on December 26, 2007 the BCWD hired contractor Ed Rettman, Jr. to do the cleaning.

Lake Marion Outlet 2010
The Buffalo Creek Watershed District financed and organized the cleaning of the Lake Marion Outlet Channel in May 2009.
